An Argo still in his clips and box

You're dying to get your hands on your new Breyer model horse. But trying to remove the beloved model from the box is nearly as painful as looking at a Breyer's price tag. Breyer model horses have leg clips that secure the model from any bumping around during transport or storage. How can you get a Breyer from the box and those clips without damaging it?

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Big metal scissors Soft cloth
      • 1

Gather your scissors, Breyer model and soft cloth. Find a comfortable place to sit, preferably a place you can brace against without worry of the chair tipping over.

      • 2

Open one end of the Breyer box, cutting any clear tape when needed.

      • 3

Slide out the contents, grasping onto the cardboard and not the Breyer model. If it won't easily silde out, open the other side of the box and push the contents out. It can help to lean into the back of your chair to help pull.

      • 4

Turn the Breyer over so the clips and twist-ties side is facing you. Place the Breyer on your lap or on a soft cloth on your lap.

      • 5

Untwist all of the twist ties. This takes a long time and there is no short cut.

      • 6

Slide one blade of the big scissors between the cardbaord and the thick white leg clip. You may not get very much in, but a little will do. As best as you can, cut the clip. This also takes a while. You may have to do a sawing motion with the blade edge to get through the clip.

Sometimes it is better to use nail clippers on the white clips instead of scissors.
