How to Save Money by Stretching More Wear out Of Makeup
Cosmetics represent a billion dollar industry, as a lot of the dollars spent on makeup products goes in the advertising and packaging. While the markup on cosmetic products can put a hefty dent in any makeup budget, you don’t have to buy expensive beauty aid products to look good. It just takes a little know-how and determination not to pay more for things that can last longer. Conserving your makeup products is easier than you might think.

1
Run a tube of dried-out mascara under hot water to declump. It usually takes about five minutes. To prevent air from getting in the tube and drying out the liquid, select a mascara product that has a small brush.
-
2
Blot foundation to make it last longer throughout the day, saving you the need to reapply more. Apply a light liquid foundation only to areas of the face where needed to even out skin tone.

3
Make your own tinted moisturizer by squeezing a dab of your usual moisturizer (with sunscreen) onto the palm of your hand. Add a few drops of liquid or cream foundation and mix with your finger.
-
4
Recycle broken pressed powder eyeshadows into loose shadows by storing in empty lip gloss jars. Cream eyeshadow will last longer if you use a powder shadow in a neutral color as a base. Neutral colored eyeshadows also can be used as a lip foundation before putting on lipstick. Lipstick will last longer throughout the day.

5
Use your mascara for double duty. Apply black mascara as liquid eyeliner using a thin, wet, eyeliner brush. Dip the tip of the eyeliner brush onto the tip of the mascara wand and then apply. It will wear longer than traditional eyeliners. Eyeshadow can double as eyeliner, too.
-
6
Forget gooey eyebrow gels that can give you an unnatural look. Try using hairstyling gel on a toothbrush instead. Simply brush through the brows.

7
Scrape out what is left of tube lipsticks and put in a little, plastic pillbox container. If you save different shades, you can create your own palette of lip colors. You can also melt the leftovers in the microwave, add some petroleum jelly and you’ve made your own tinted lip gloss. Brushing your lips with a toothbrush before applying lip gloss can help it to last all day.

Use water. Spritz your face lightly with a mist of cool water to give your skin a dewy glow and keep makeup lasting longer. Have skin that glows naturally, and save on buying moisturizers, too. Drink plenty of water to plump up skin. Adequate hydration is good for the hair as well, giving it a glossier look.

Select a better quality perfume. You will actually save money in the end. Moisturize the area with a dab of petroleum jelly, as perfume should not be sprayed onto dry skin.
