So you're trying to run a program in VISTA but it won't work! You may need to run the program as the admnistrator, not just be logged in as the administrator. But how do you do that? Just follow these simple steps....

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Vista is great! At the same time, it can drive you absolutely CRAZY! If you're having trouble getting a program to run correctly, try this. First, Right-click the program icon and click Properties.

  2. Step 2

This will bring up a new popup screen. Then, click the Compatibility tab. It is located at the top of the screen.

  3. Step 3
    Properties Screen

Finally, Under Privilege Level, select the Run this program as an administrator check box, and then click OK.

  4. Step 4

Be warned. The program will now run as the administrator Everytime (or atleast until you do this process again and unclick the checkbox). This may be a nuisance as Vista will now ask you, Everytime, if you want to run this program. I cannot find a way to turn off this feature.

Tips & Warnings
  • Note - This program will always run as the administrator until this box is unchecked!
