How to Change the Visualizer Effects in iTunes

The iTunes Visualizer effects are an often-unnoticed feature of the iTunes media program. The effects can dynamically enhance the visual aspect of listening to music. iTunes Visualizer (with a Mac) boasts three colorful lightshow modes: Lathe, Jelly and Stix.

  • To turn on the Visualizer, choose View > Visualizer > iTunes Visualizer. Once you see a small checkmark after the words, the option is turned on. There might be a momentary pause in your system, and then an electric light show pops up on your screen. The effects are based on the song that is currently playing.

  • To toggle between effects, choose View > Visualizer > Jelly.

  • For other light show display options, choose View > Visualizer > Stix or Lathe.

Tips & Warnings

  • To randomly manipulate the configurations, press the R key. When you press the R with the beat of the selected song, you dictate the light show display.
