Instructions

    • 1

Cut out some random shapes for the spots on the dalmation costume. Make the spots in all different sizes and shapes, but in size proportion to your child. Make quite a few so you'll have plenty of black spots for the costume.

    • 2

Sew the spots onto the sweatsuit. It will take a lot longer to hand sew them, but if you want to reuse the sweatsuit later, this is the best option because you can leave a larger gap between threads when you hand-sew. Randomly space the spots to make the costume authentic.

    • 3

Create the tail of the dalmation costume. Cut strips of fur and then sew them together to create the tail. The legnth of the tail will depend on the height of your child. Don't let the tail drag on the floor so your child might trip on the costume when walking. Once you have created the tail, you can either sew it onto the pants or pin it with safety pins.

Add ears and more spots onto the hood of the sweatshirt. Evenly space the ears on the head and sew the ears to the head so that they stand up better. Once you have attached the ears, you can add additional spots onto the head if you like.

Finish the costume by painting your child's face with Halloween makeup. Add little whiskers and even a couple of spots to complete the costume. You can find Halloween face makeup at any major retailer around the Halloween season and it is quite inexpensive.
