Sudoku Quest is an online version of the classic Japanese number puzzle game. It is played the same way as the pen-and-paper version, with the exception that you can check your answers to see if you got the right one when you’ve finished the puzzle. This game is a fun way to expand your brain while on the Internet. It is really easy to play once you get the hang of the game--and, in no time, you will be able to solve puzzles with the best of them.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet Explorer version 6.0
  • Adobe Flash player version 7.0
  • Internet connection
  • Computer
  • Mouse
  • Keyboard
  • 10-30 minutes
  1. Step 1

Play Sudoku like any other Sudoku game. There are nine boxes of nine squares each. Some of the boxes already have numbers written in them, while others are blank. The object of the game is to write numbers from 1-9, both inside the boxes and in each column, so that no number is repeated in a box or in a line.

  2. Step 2

Start the game by going to MSN games and clicking on Sudoku quest. Every day it has a different puzzle. The game should start automatically. When the screen pops up, there will be a Sudoku board that looks like a scrabble board. Click on any empty square to enter in a number. Sudoku quest also has the option of being able to pause, which stops the counter, and turns the board into question marks. This is so that you cannot study the board while the game is paused and cheat on the time it took to complete the game. There also is an upgrade button, which leads to the downloadable version of the game.

  3. Step 3

Look at the numbers already visible on the board. Examine the boxes and columns to see if you can see what numbers should go in the blank spaces. This is usually done by eliminating the numbers that are already there. If you are not sure of a number’s placement, you can hit the space bar while left -clicking the number to “pencil” it in.

  4. Step 4

Fill in all of the numbers into the blank spaces. The numbers will be blue if it is possible that they go there, but they will turn red if it is impossible for them to go in that spot. This does not mean that those numbers can never go there, just that the way that you have them arranged makes it impossible.

  5. Step 5

Finish the game by filling in all of the boxes with the correct numbers. Once you have finished the game, if you have solved it correctly, the numbers will turn green. Your time will be displayed, and you will be able to move on to other levels.

Tips & Warnings
  • Perhaps the easiest way to solve the puzzle is to look for where all the places of one kind of number can go before moving on to the next number. For example, pencil in all of the 1s before moving on to another number.
  • The downloadable version includes auto-solving and hint features. which help players who are in a difficult spot. These can be very useful for the beginning player.
  • Internet explorer is the only Web browser that will allow the online play of Sudoku Quest. All other browsers will not support the game and will require a download to play offline.
