De-clutter and Organize your Bedroom
De-clutter and Organize your Bedroom

Your bedroom should be your little slice of heaven away from a world of research papers, diapers, parents, bills, and worries. When you walk into your room, it should feel like walking into your sanctuary, your safe haven. In order to make your bedroom feel comfortable you must de-clutter and organize it to minimize stress when looking for something. I will share with you some tips on how to do so.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Garbage Can
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • A Good Attitude
  1. Step 1

Throw away any obvious garbage: Soda Cans, Candy Wrappers, Grocery bags, tissues, paper towels, empty perfume or lotion bottles.

  2. Step 2

Do this space by space. For example The Nightstand, The Computer Desk, The Vanity.

  3. Step 3

Decide on which items are completely necessary or not. If you haven't used an item in the last 3 months, Toss it.

  4. Step 4

The closet tends to be the most daunting task of all. Stop saving the "rainy day" outfits. If you haven't worn it in 6 months or more, toss it. If it's winter attire and you're in summer, Buy a box and store them on a shelf folded inside the box. If you are heavy-set but plan on losing the weight put all your "skinny clothes" in a box with your goal date on the outside. Store away, when your goal date comes and you've lost some weight you can try on the clothes and re-evaluate.

  5. Step 5

Invest in quality storage boxes to store under the bed. Anything you don't need in sight, store it.

  6. Step 6

Try to keep all things in their place, this way you won't need to de-clutter as often.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be cold-hearted when deciding whether to toss.
  • Don't keep things you don't use
  • Store personal items in memory boxes
  • Do not try to do everything at the same time, you will panic and feel overwhelmed.

on 10/12/2008 I like #2 and do something similar. I clean the drawers in my bedroom one by one. I tackle one drawer every night, or every few nights. I do this constantly, so my drawers never get messy. I also keep a bag in my house for Goodwill items and visit Goodwill about once a month, when the bag gets full.
