How to Make Spooky Halloween Party Invitations

When getting ready for your Halloween party don't forget the invitations to send to all those little goblins you want to invite. The perfect invitation will set a spook-tacular mood for your Halloween party! You and your children will have a great time making these spooky Halloween party invitations together. Things You'll Need

  • 8 1/2 x 11-inch white card stock paper
  • Ruler
  • Black marker
  • Masking tape
  • Bright colored crayons
  • Black tempura paint
  • Paint brush
  • Plastic knife, toothpick, or wooden dowel

Instructions

      Spread out the newspaper over your work surface.

      Lay the card stock paper on top of the newspaper.

      Draw a straight line in the middle of the card stock paper from top to bottom using the ruler and black marker.

      Draw another straight line across the middle of the card stock paper from side to side. Your paper should be divided into four equal rectangles.

      Tape the edges of the card stock paper to the newspaper so it doesn't move.

      Tape across the top, bottom and both sides of the card stock paper with the masking tape creating a border about 1/2-inch wide all around.

      Place a strip of tape down the middle covering the center line you drew.

      Place a strip of tape across the middle line you drew.

      Color each rectangle with one or more brightly colored crayons completely covering each rectangle.

      Paint over the entire piece of the card stock paper with the black paint covering thickly and completely. Let dry completely.

      Etch a different shape or scene on each of the four rectangles through the black paint using a plastic knife, toothpick, wooden dowel, or any object with a tip on it.

      Remove the tape from the card stock.

      Cut out each of the four rectangles using the black lines as a guide.

      Turn the cards over with the etched side down.

      Write your party information on the card and your invitations are done.

  • You can etch scary pumpkin faces, cats, witches, or a haunted house scene.
