Things You'll Need:
- internet connection
- money to buy or rent angel movies
-
Step 1
MichaelIf you are like me the first angel movie you ever saw was It's a Wonderful Life with James Stewart and Donna Reed. The movie is a classic and still one of my favorite angel movies.
Another angel movie I like is Michael, with John Travolta playing a rumpled, but life-affirming, angel named Michael. The music in the movie is terrific too, especially the music playing in the last scene of the movie.
There are angel movies that are very different than these two of course, with Angel-A coming to mind. It's well worth watching even though it gets off to a slow start and its a French film. Angel-A was made by Luc Besson who gave us The Fifth Element, another one of my favorite movies (though not about angels.) -
Step 2
Date With an AngelIn the resources section below are listed some web sites that have long lists of movies about angels. In Amazon.com, do a search for "Angels in Movies."
During the Christmas season angel movies are very popular and it is often easier to find them in local stores then than at other times of the year.
Check out one of my all-time favorite angel movies, Date With an Angel from 1987. I won't give away the plot but there's just something about this movie that gets me every time. Watch it for yourself if you can, its worth it.
Other angel movies I like are:
Heaven Only Knows, A Guy Named Joe, Almost an Angel, City of Angels, I Married an Angel, Forever Darling, and Wings of Desire. -
Step 3
angelThere are many movies about angels that were made in the classic movie making era, especially in the 1940's. I'm not sure if it was the war, or the end of the Great Depression, or just what, but angel movies were very, very popular in the 1940's. You'll see them sometimes on late night television, especially the well-known one's like The Bishops Wife, in which Cary Grant plays the most delicious, suave, charming, and elegant angel ever in my book.
