Get a Boyfriend at the Age of 12

Being a middle-schooler, you might convince your parents that you're ready to date your first boy. If your parents approve of you having a boyfriend, here are a few things to keep in mind when seeking a boyfriend at the age of 12.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Be yourself. Boys like girls who are honest and do not pretend to be someone they are not just to get a boyfriend.

  2. Step 2

Be confident in who you are. Potential boyfriends are looking for girls who are confident, optimistic, funny, happy and nice.

  3. Step 3

Do not change who you are. It is not as important to be popular or beautiful; what's more important is to be proud of who you are and what you have to offer.

  4. Step 4

Join clubs that have to do with your interests. Chances are, you will meet a boy in that group whom you want to date. Being in the same club with this person gives you an opportunity to talk to one another, and a shared interest will give you something to talk about.

  5. Step 5

Pay attention during lessons, but between classes and during gym are great opportunities to talk to boys, and these conversations could eventually lead to more.

  6. Step 6

Invite a boy whom you like and his friends to go out as a group with you and some of your friends. Group dates take the edge off couples dating and make everyone more comfortable.

  7. Step 7

Consider inviting the boy you like to a movie, a miniature golf course or an arcade. You will get to know the boy you like better and have fun at the same time.

  8. Step 8

Talk to the boy you like on the phone or via instant messenger. This way you two will get to know each other better. Only do this if you are comfortable with the idea and your parents approve.

  9. Step 9

If the boy likes you, he will show you and probably ask you to be his girlfriend. But don't feel you have to wait for him! If you are comfortable enough, ask the boy to be your boyfriend.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not be sad if the boy you like turns you down; just remember that it is his loss and that there are plenty more boys out there who would love to go out with you.
  • Do not feel that you have to be with this boy forever. Be nice to him, but if you no longer want to be his girlfriend, feel free to let him know kindly and respectfully.
