How to Install a Cartridge for Dell Photo Printer 720

Dell Photo Printer 720 Ink Cartridges

Dell is best known as a manufacturer of quality computers, but they also do a dandy job with peripheral equipment such as printers. The Dell Photo Printer 720 is a fine example of Dell's expertise in this area. Easy to set up and operate, the Dell Photo Printer 720 also makes it easy to change the ink cartridges when they are empty.

Things You'll Need

• Dell Photo Printer 720
• Replacement Color Ink Cartridge
• Replacement Black Ink Cartridge
• Plastic Bag
• Computer with Dell Photo Printer 720 driver and software installed

Instructions

1. Locate the "On" button toward the rear of the top right side of the Dell Photo Printer 720. Turn the unit on by pressing and releasing the "On" button one time.

2. Lift the front cover of the Dell Photo Printer 720 unit until it locks into place. Allow the ink cartridge carrier to move to the loading position. Wait for the print cartridge carrier to stop moving. If the ink cartridge carrier does not move to the loading position the printer is probably busy. Close the cover and wait for the printer to finish printing jobs in queue.

3. Release the empty print cartridges by pressing down on the tabs on the cartridge lids. Lift the cartridge lids straight up. Remove the empty ink cartridges by pulling them up and forward. Place the empty cartridges in the plastic bag and set aside for recycling.

4. Remove the new color cartridge from its packaging. Remove the sticker and transparent tape from the back and bottom of the color cartridge. Dispose of the sticker and protective tape. Insert the new color ink cartridge into the empty ink cartridge carrier on the left. Close the left cartridge lid and press down until it snaps into place.

5. Remove the new black ink cartridge from its packaging. Remove the sticker and transparent tape from the back and bottom of the color cartridge. Dispose of the sticker and protective tape. Insert the new black ink cartridge into the empty ink cartridge carrier on the right. Close the right cartridge lid and press down until it snaps into place. Close the front cover of the Dell Photo Printer 720.

6. Initialize the Dell Printer Solution Center on your computer by clicking the Start icon. Select All Programs. Select Dell Printers. Select Dell Photo Printer 720. Select Dell Printer Solution Center.

7. Click the Maintenance Tab. Select Install A New Print Cartridge. Click "Next." Select Color or Black, depending on which cartridge you replaced. Click "Next." Align print cartridges if necessary.

Tips & Warnings

• Dell Ink Cartridges are available only though Dell.

• Dell Ink Cartridges can be ordered online (see Resources).

• Never touch the gold connectors or print nozzles on the back and bottom of the ink cartridge.

• Some ink always remains in cartridges when they need to be replaced. Use caution when changing cartridges to prevent staining your clothing or skin.
