Remove Scratches Glass

When glass is scratched, you will find that it is not only annoying, but it could cause visibility issues when you are talking about windows and windshields on cars. But the good news is that you will not have to get the glass replaced if you are willing to take the steps in order to fix the scratch in your glass.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Polishing compound (jeweler’s rouge)
  • Buffing pad
  • Safety goggles
  • Rubber work gloves
  • A well ventilated area
  • Water
  • Ammonia
  • Electric buffer
  • Paper towels
  1. Step 1

Be safe. Make sure you take the proper safety precautions when mixing chemicals as well as when you are using electric tools.

  2. Step 2

Apply the polishing compound. Start by applying the jeweler’s rouge on to a buffing pad. Very light scratches will be taken care of with this step. Even if the scratch is still there after this step, it will be less apparent than it was before.

  3. Step 3

Buff the scratch. Polish the scratch with an electric buffer, between 1200 and 1400 RPM.

  4. Step 4

Wear your safety goggles. Put on safety goggles and gloves to mix together the water and ammonia (two parts to two parts). You will want to take this mixture and wash the section of glass with it. Use a soft sponge to do it.

  5. Step 5

Finish the project. Dry the glass with lint-free paper towels.
