How to Design a Locksmith Logo
If you’ve recently started a locksmith company or are in charge of creating designs for the company, you need a logo to draw attention to the company and make yourself stand out from every other locksmith company in your service area. It may take several hours, days or weeks to perfect a business logo and it could change once you find out what works and what doesn’t in the public eye. However, taking the time initially to think about and create a logo could save you and your locksmith company a lot of time and money in the future. Once you’ve created a logo, you can use it on professional documents and advertisements.

1
Decide what kind of logo your locksmith company wants and needs. Ask employees or others what they would like to see in the logo. Research other locksmith companies in your area and elsewhere to get ideas of what you want and don’t want in a logo. Think about the company’s clients, what the logo will be on and how the logo will be used. You want to have some sort of lock or key in the design so individuals looking for a locksmith know what it is you do, but you also want to have some other defining characteristics to set your company apart from other similar companies.

2
Build a design scheme. Pick a color or a group of coordinating colors and graphics, pictures and any words you may use in the logo. Keep the design straightforward and simple, yet eye-catching rather than busy.

3
Create initial designs. Draw on paper some rough sketches of what the logo could look like. Afterwards, you also could create some rough designs with your computer design software with which you plan to create the actual logo. Create a variety of designs; the more sketches you create, the more defined your logo will become and the more it will evolve into what you truly envisioned.
-
4
Design the logo. After you have created several sketches by hand and with the computer software, begin to finalize the design. Obviously you will have to tweak and change certain parts of the logo through the actual design phase.

5
Step away. Once you complete what you feel is the final design of the locksmith logo, leave the computer for a few hours or a day or two, if you have the time. If you have looked at the logo design for a number of hours, a rested and somewhat “fresh” set of eyes the next day or so will allow you to make any final adjustments. You also will want to get the “final” project reviewed or approved by other employees or stakeholders before you submit the design for printing or otherwise.

Tips & Warnings
Seek input and help from employees, community members and other stakeholders throughout the entire design process. Having more than one set of eyes on any project will only help in the process and create a more efficient product.
Once you create a final logo, make sure it is free of errors and is what you want to go with as your logo. The logo defines the company and is likely to go on many items, such as business cards, company letterheads, signs, fabrics and other materials. If anything will require the logo to be changed in the future, it could cost the company a lot of extra time, money and wasted products.
