      Wash, iron and starch the pillowcase to make sure it's wrinkle free. Measure your child at the widest point around her body to make sure that the pillowcase is big enough to fit her.

      Cut the pieces of the pillowcase dress. Cut the seamed end off of the pillowcase. Fold the pillowcase in half. Using an existing sleeveless shirt of your child’s, draw the armholes for the pillowcase dress and cut them out.

      Sew the pillowcase dress. Fold the arm holes over ¼ inch and stitch them to finish the armholes professionally. Fold over the front and back of the dress and sew a one inch channel.

      Add the ribbon. Thread your ribbon through the front and back channels of the dress. On each side of the channel, tie the front and back ribbons together at the shoulders.

      Add decorations such as appliques, eyelet trim and other embellishments to the dress
