Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cookies
  • Specialty ingredients
  • Baking tools
  • Recipes
  • Photos
  • Decorative tins and baskets
  • Tissue paper
  • Cellophane
  • Holiday ribbon
  • Gift tag
  1. Step 1

Bake several types of your favorite Christmas cookies and allow them to cool completely. Consider versions with different ingredients (like nuts, peanut butter, powdered sugar or candied fruits) to accommodate a variety of preferences. If you don't have any signature recipes, try out a few popular ones from a cooking Web site (See Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Add more items to the basket if you'd like to spend more money on certain people. Consider adding some of the specialty ingredients you used in the cookies, a gift card to a kitchen or gourmet shop or baking tools such as Christmas cookie cutters, cookie dough scoops, a pretty rolling pin, non-stick Silpat sheets, wooden spoons, baking sheets or cooling racks.

  3. Step 3

Include an item to give the gift basket a touch of nostalgia. For example, if you're giving the basket to family members add the cookie recipes on holiday stationery written in your own handwriting, your family's heirloom chocolate chip cookie recipe or a photo of you baking with your grandmother.

  4. Step 4

Choose festive tins to hold the cookies (if you're including other items in the basket) and baskets to gather all of the items. Decoratively arrange the baskets, using wads of tissue paper to sit the items at different heights, if desired.

  5. Step 5

Sit the gift basket on top of a piece of colored or clear cellophane and gather the sides toward the top. Tie it closed with colorful holiday ribbon and add a cute gift tag created with card stock and stickers.
