The R4 DS Revolution is a flash cart kit for the Nintendo DS and allows you to backup ROMs, MP3s and run homebrew applications. The R4 currently supports all Nintendo DS ROMs, FAT32, all MicroSD formats and has virtually no slowdown. Use R4 DS to backup your games with this necessary new peripheral for any Nintendo DS owner.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • MicroSD card
  • PC
  • R4 DS Revolution
  • Nintendo DS
Step1
Insert the CD-ROM into your PC and MicroSD card into the USB adapter that came with the R4 DS Revolution. Once you have inserted the MicroSD card, connect it to your PC.
Step2
Drag the firmware file named "_DS_MENU.DAT" from the CD-ROM to the root directory of the MicroSD card. Next load the media kernel and graphic user interface onto your MicroSD card. Once you are finished, create a directory for your games and put all of your backed up ROMs onto the MicroSD card.
Step3
Place the MicroSD card into the R4 cart when you have finished loading the files and insert it into your Nintendo DS. Turn it on and the R4 DS Revolution will boot up.
Step4
Choose the game you want to play and press a button. Your game loads and you can play the backed-up ROM on the Nintendo DS.

Tips & Warnings

  • Aside from games, you can also add music and movies to the R4 DS Revolution and play them back on your Nintendo DS.
  • Downloading ROMs is illegal. Make sure that you have the game before you create a ROM and play it on the R4 DS Revolution.
