Instructions
-
-
1
Measure the chair (back, front, seat, etc.) and determine the amount of material you will need.
-
2
Create a pattern of the chair. (Otherwise, how will you know what piece goes where?) You can label the front back as A, the seat cushion as B, the back of the chair as C and so forth.
-
-
3
Drape the material over the chair. Make sure it covers the chair completely to the floor.
-
4
Use the chalk to mark where the chair' s seams. (This is determined by the make of the chair). Also, give your self some room to sew the seam so mark the seam about an inch below the actual seam.
-
5
Cut the material along the chalk line. Identify the cut pieces (according to the pattern you created.)
-
6
Place each cut piece in it's respective place on the chair and use a safety pin to connect and secure them.
-
7
Pin the seat section to the front part of the chair' s back. Remove and sew these two pieces together.
-
8
Lay your sewn pieces in the proper place on the chair. Continue adding the sewn pieces together until the pattern is reconstructed with the material. Hem the bottom of the chair' s skirt. Add ruffles or pleats for a more dramatic looking chair.

Tips & Warnings
Use good drapery-like material for slip cover projects. Many seamstresses recommended broadcloth or chintz.
Make sure you use chalk and not marker so the lines can wash out.
