Prepare to Build
Step1
Gather your materials. You can get the poster boxes from the post office for free by just requesting them at the counter. All the other boxes will either have to be bought or donated, but can be easily found.
Step2
Cut down one side of the cereal box. This is so you can fold the cereal box inside out so the head is all brown like the inside of the box. Tape the box with the inside now folded on the outside.
Step3
Decorate the cereal box to create the robot face. Use multi-colored markers and glue on a couple of bottle caps for eyes or buttons.
Step4
Stick a couple of black pipe cleaners in the top of the box so that the robot can have antennas.
Step5
Decorate the large box that will represent the body of the robot. Glue around six multicolored bottle caps on this section to show a lot of different buttons that the robot has.
Step6
Write the robot’s name towards the bottom of the body section is a computer like font. Give the robot a name like “Robo-Tron 3000” or something like that.
Step7
Set the body part straight up on a table top. Duct tape the head of the robot on using four to five pieces of duct tape so that the head is sturdy.
Finishing the Robot
Step1
Cut a dryer ventilation tube so that there two equal pieces about a foot and a half long.
Step2
Attach the arms to both sides of the body using duct tape.
Step3
Attach a glove to the end of each arm using duct tape. Fill the gloves with newspaper so that it looks like there is actually a hand inside of there.
Step4
Attach the legs (mailing poster boxes) to the body using duct tape, and then duct tape the shoe boxes to the end of legs to represent the feet. Fill the shoeboxes with a lot of the magazines or newspaper so that the robot can stand.
Step5
Stand the robot up and add more decorations or begin to play with the robot.
