While this isn't particularly a "Get to know you"- type game, it's still a fun way to break up the monotony of a training session, or to make people more comfortable with an unfamiliar group.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Index cards (one per participant)
  • Tape
  • Pens
  • Six or more people

How to Play the "Name on the Back" Icebreaker Game

Step1
Write the names of characters, actors, actresses, and other personalities on the index cards. Examples could include "Harry Potter," "Charles Dickens," "Britney Spears" and so on.
Step2
Once the group enters the room, tape one index card on each person's back, but don't let him see the name written on the card.
Step3
Once each participant has an index card taped to her back, she must go around to the other people in the room and ask them Yes or No questions about the person whose name is on the card. Questions such as "Am I a man?", "Am I famous?" and "Am I an actor?" are typical choices.
Step4
Give the group 15 minutes or so to complete the activity. Once a participant correctly guesses the name on his back, he may attach the card to the front of his shirt. At the end of the 15 minutes, if anyone still has a card on the back of her shirt, the rest of the group then helps her to figure out whose name it is.
