Set up your computer to share a non-network printer with multiple computers. With wireless connections through a router, you will be printing from any room in your house with any computer. It is not necessary for you to be tech savvy in order to set up your computers to share a computer without a printer network.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Two computers
  • Wireless router
  • Printer
Step1
Go the control panel from the start menu on the tool bar of the computer that is hooked up to the printer. Select the printer icon within the control panel.
Step2
Press the 'share printer' option once you have clicked on the printer icon. Type in a name for the printer. Make up a name of your own or just use the manufacturer's name for the printer.
Step3
Click on the start menu of the second computer. Go to the 'my computer' icon, and click on it.
Step4
Select the option for adding a printer to the computer. Choose the network option for adding a computer. Browse through the list until you locate the name of the printer you chose on the first computer. Click on the name.
Step5
Wait for the wireless network to send the driver for the chosen printer to the second computer.
Step6
Do a test print on both computers to verify the connection to the printer. Manually install the printer to the second computer when it does not print to the desired printer.
