How to Burn Iso Files to Dvd

Do you need to move large files that you just saved as an ISO file? ISO files are image files that are burned to a CD or DVD. Many Linux distributions are ISO files. Large files are also saved as an ISO file. Burning these files requires special software, but it is easy to do.

Things You'll Need:

  • ISO-Capable DVD Burning Software (ImgBurn is a good one to try)
  • Blank DVD (A Double Layer DVD Works Best)
  • Computer with a DVD Burner

    Burning ISO Files to a DVD

  1. Step 1

    Insert a blank DVD into your disk drive. A DVD-RW will be rewriteable in case you make a mistake.

  2. Step 2

    Open your DVD burning software. If this is installed correctly, it will be in the Programs directory on a Windows computer.

  3. Step 3

    Click on Source if you are using ImgBurn. Navigate to the file that you would like to burn.

  4. Step 4

    Set your Destination. Navigate to your DVD drive and the blank disk.

  5. Step 5

    Set your write speed. Slower write speeds will lower the chance that your burn will end in an error.

  6. Step 6

    Click Begin. Depending on the size of the file and write speed you ahve selected, burning an ISO file can take from 10-20 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Different image burning software packages have different capabilities. ImgBurn can change volume lables and burn BluRay disks. Other packages may have a different feature set.
