EBay is one of the largest online auction sites in the world, with people buying and selling merchandise from thousands of locations. While some people think the site is better suited for smaller items, collectibles and clothing, there are people making quite a bit of money by using the site to sell cars. The online auction site even has a separate eBay Motors section where you can sell vehicles online. Prior to selling that used car on eBay you need to register for an account and take pictures of your vehicle.

From Quick Guide: Used Cars
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Used car
  • Digital camera
  1. Step 1

Register with an account on eBay if you don’t already have one. If you do have an account, you can sell in the Motors section right away. You’ll need to have a credit card on file and in some cases they may require that you have a Paypal account connected as well.

  2. Step 2

Take some time to familiarize yourself with the eBay Motors site since it is a little different than their main page. You should see what other cars are being sold in your area and the type of price they brought so you can decide how to price your car.

  3. Step 3

Use a digital camera to take photographs of the car. Spend special attention on any dents or damage in the car, especially on the body. Buyers want to see exactly what they’re getting and they may balk at any auction where there aren’t any pictures or the pictures are vague. Take a few pictures away from the car and a few from close up.

  4. Step 4

Write your auction being as honest as possible. State the condition of the car, the car’s past history, any problems with the car on the interior or exterior and any relevant information about the vehicle that might not be visible from the photos. Upload the information onto their server along with your photographs and the auction will go live immediately.

  5. Step 5

Answer any questions as soon as a buyer asks and be as honest as possible. You may have buyers who want to see the car in person or take a test drive and if it helps make the sale, you should agree. Once the auction ends you simply need to wait for payment.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep in mind that whatever price the car sells for is the price you have to sell it for. If you have a certain price in mind, set a reserve or set the auction at that same price.
  • Make sure you add local pickup as your only delivery option unless you want to drive the car to another state or pay large shipping costs.
  • Remember that eBay charges a fee based on the price the car sells for. You may think you’re selling the car for a large amount, but you need to consider the fees.
  • Don’t lie or be dishonest about anything. This will turn off buyers and an unhappy buyer can press charges against you.

on 10/27/2009 Hey guys,

You can also sell a car over the internet, that is true. Even in eBay car sales get more and more important.
The only problem with online sales is that they lack credibility!
Pictures can easily be faked in a way that dents, scratches, etc simply disappear. It is nearly impossible to find out if you look at a fake picture or not.

One solution for this problem is a 3 dimensional photo from www.3dbin.com . Not only will it increase your sales because of not being flat as every other picture, but it will also nearly guarantee that the picture is not faked.
Simply the fact that you have to take around 40 pictures of your car to create a 3DPhoto, each picture from a different angle, which means on every photo different shades, makes it very hard to fake the picture.
Just go to www.3dbin.com and follow the instruction how to make a 3DPhoto [http://3dbin.com/HowTo/AutoShoot]...
