How to Avoid Driving While Drunk

1
Get rid of your keys. If you're at a party, ask a friend to hold your keys for you. If you're at a bar, give your keys to the bartender. No matter where you are or who gets your keys, simply tell them that they shouldn't give your keys to you until the next day when you've sobered up.

Save money for a cab. This can be difficult as the night goes on and you become intoxicated, so plan ahead of time. Take $20 or $30 and put it someplace safe, and separate from your other money, and only use that hidden money when it's time to pay your cab fare.

Start a DD program with your friends. If your group of friends always has a designated driver then no one will end up getting hurt, arrested, or killed by driving drunk. Besides, watching your friends act like idiots while they're drunk is better than most prime-time TV shows.

If you know that you'll have no option other than to drive, then don't drink. While this may sound absurdly simple, it's also the best sure-fire way to keep yourself from driving drunk.

Tips & Warnings
* If those around you pressure you to drive while you're drunk then you may want to reevaluate how much those people actually care about you.
* If in doubt, don't drive. If you're not sure whether or not you're too drunk to drive, that means that you are too drunk. Why? Because risking it just isn't worth it. The costs associated with a DUI are astronomical, ranging into thousands of dollars. The mental burden of knowing that you killed someone because you were driving drunk would be unbearable. It just is not worth it.
