Gum Paste flowers can make a wedding cake or any special occasion cake look beautiful. Gum paste is a pliable mixture that is used to make realistic looking, decorative flowers. These flowers are edible but they are rarely eaten because they dry very hard. The following article discusses steps that you can take to safely store gum paste flowers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gum paste flowers
  • Bubble wrap
  • Air-tight, plastic container
  1. Step 1

Gum paste flowers should be stored in a sealed plastic container. If stored properly, the flowers can last for months. Wrap the flowers with bubble wrap or paper towels to protect them in the container.

  2. Step 2

Wrap smaller leaves and any delicate filler flowers seperately. Carefully tuck them into the sides of the container. This will protect them from damage.

  3. Step 3

Place larger gum paste flowers directly on a sheet of bubble wrap in the plastic container. Do not stack the flowers on top of each other.

  4. Step 4

Cradle the larger flowers by placing another sheet of bubble wrap on top on them. Gently tuck the bubble wrap around the flowers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Storing the flowers in a plastic container will make transporting a cake much easier and safer.
  • If you have to store a cake in the refrgerator, be sure to store gum paste flowers in a separate container.
  • Moisture will ruin and wilt gum paste flowers so be sure to store them in a cool, dry place.
