How to Apply Eye Cream

Eyes are one of the most accentuated facial features we have. From makeup to sunglasses, they are often framed and displayed. Taking care of your eye area, where some of the most sensitive skin on your body is found, is important in your skin care regimen.

• Eye cream for your skin type

1. Take a small amount, about the size of a pencil eraser, from the container. You can use your finger, a cotton swab or an eye makeup applicator.

2. Transfer some of the eye cream onto your ring finger or the applicator. The ring finger is the smoothest and least used of your fingers, so it will glide against your skin lightly. Your ring finger will also exert the least amount of force, also saving your sensitive eye skin from being tugged or pulled.

3. Dab gently around the eye area with your finger or applicator. Start near the bottom-inside area of the eye, near the tear duct, and work your way around your eye until you are near the top-outside corner. Make sure to cover the area where you notice aging or crow's-feet, even though it may reach out from your eye a little.

4. Pat the area around the eye repeatedly to help ensure that the eye cream you initially spread is absorbed into the skin. This is a very gentle touch, so do not rub or pull at your skin.

5. Make sure that the eye area is evenly covered. Eye creams are great because they not only moisturize around your eyes but also give your concealer, foundation and eye shadow a smooth surface to cover.
