How to Use Time Lapse in iStopMotion

By eHow Computers Editor
Rate: (0 Ratings)

The time lapse function in iStopMotion sets your camera to take one picture per increment of time you specify so you capture long events, such as a sunset, one frame at a time over time. IStopMotion then allows you to string the frames together to produce the effect of speeding up time.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to the "Time Lapse" function at the bottom right of the screen, in the Functions column to the right of the working animation window.

  2. Step 2

Select how often you want your camera to capture a frame. Select one of the numbers provided in the numbers box and then select one of the time increments listed in the Options bar next to it. IStopMotion allows you to choose between seconds, minutes, hours and frames.

  3. Step 3

Click the "Start" button beneath the time increment Options window.

  4. Step 4

Watch as iStopMotion counts down. Your camera then begins capturing frames at the time length and increment you selected in Step 2.

Tips & Warnings
  • Users of Mac OS X v10.2.x users are instructed by Boinx Software to stay with iStopMotion 1.5. Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger" users are instructed to get iStopMotion version 1.8.1 or later.
