How to Make a Secret Container out of a Lighter

A secret lighter container can store folded dollar bills, a spare key or small important notes. The best part about these secret containers is that no one suspects you're hiding something within the lighter. You need about a half hour to complete the container, but once you make these containers a few times, you can probably complete one in as little as 10 minutes. Just follow these steps.

Things You’ll Need:

• Empty lighter
• Knife
• Saw
• Sandpaper
• Mini screwdriver
• Inner part of a pen
• Tape

1. Take a knife and make a small rut in the bottom of the lighter, right near the white cap. Use the rut to guide the saw, and carefully cut off the bottom of the lighter. The bottom must be in good shape, because you'll need to fit it back on the lighter.
2. Disassemble the top part of the lighter by removing the silver parts. Use your fingers or a mini screwdriver and remove the inside pieces from the lighter.
3. Pull out any pieces inside the lighter that block storage space. You are trying to increase the amount of space available inside the lighter. Sand down any bumpy parts within the lighter.
4. Sand down the white cap and the bottom edge, until the cap fits tightly into the bottom again. It's easier to sand the cap by rubbing it along the sandpaper, rather than rubbing the sandpaper along the cap.
5. Reassemble the lighter, except for the large silver cap that covers the entire top. You'll need a mini screwdriver to connect all the pieces back together.
6. Fold the inside of a pen in half, making sure it's a little longer than the length of the lighter. Use tape to hold the fold. Cut off the tip of the pen and insert it through the bottom of the lighter, on the opposite side of the red button.
7. Replace the silver cap on top and the white cap on the bottom. Push the red button you use to ignite a lighter up instead of down, and the bottom will pop out revealing your hidden treasures.
