How to Preserve an Autograph on Clothing

If you stood in line for hours to get the signature of your favorite actor or sports star, on an article of clothing, you certainly don't want that autograph to fade. Taking a few preventative measures with your autographed memorabilia can help extend the life of the signature.

Instructions

1. Wash the article of clothing in cold water on the gentle cycle. Don't overwash it or put it in the dryer with any other articles of clothing.

2. Use an iron or blowdryer to set the signature. The heat from the appliance sets the ink so it's more resistant to fading after repeated washings.

3. Embroider or sew along the signature. This does not protect the signature against fading, but it will ensure that a version of the signature is always on the article of clothing.
