How to Perform a Tiger Uppercut on Street Fighter

Street Fighter is a classic fighting game, with many sequels and spin-offs available on numerous arcade and console platforms. Sagat, the one-eyed Muay Thai champion, is a character who distinguishes himself with a special move called the Tiger Uppercut. Used properly, you can devastate your Street Fighter opponents with this powerful punch.

Instructions

    • 1

Get close to your opponent. Sagat has a long reach, but he still must be able to physically touch the opponent for the Tiger Uppercut to work.

    • 2

Press the joystick forward towards your opponent. Next, move the joystick down, and then simultaneously press down-forward and any punch button. You must complete this sequence quickly and accurately.

    • 3

Follow up with more moves. Landing a Tiger Uppercut knocks your opponent for a loop. Take advantage of that time to continue the pummeling.

Tips & Warnings

  • Down-forward is a diagonal position. Depending on the direction Sagat is facing, down-forward on a joystick is either four or eight on a clock face.

  • The Tiger Uppercut works with any punch button. Lighter punches are faster, but heavier punches deal more damage.

  • This move is very similar to the Dragon Punch (or "Shuryuken") performed by the characters Ken and Ryu in various Street Fighter games.

  • Sagat screams "Tiger Uppercut" while performing the move.
