How to Install and Activate Adobe Audition 2

Adobe Audition 2 is hailed as one of the most sophisticated and user- friendly professional sound editing programs. Getting the most out of Adobe Audition 2 requires that you know how to correctly install and activate the program for optimal use.

1. Verify that your computer meets the system requirements of Adobe Audition 2 by checking that you run either an Intel Pentium that is 1.4 Ghz or higher, Intel Centrino, Intel Xeon, Intel Core Duo or a processor that is equivalent. Also make sure you have at least 512MB of RAM, 10GB free on your hard drive and a sound card that is equivalent to Microsoft DirectX or ASIO.
2. Download the program or install it from a packaged DVD. Set aside a good chunk of time since the installation process is long and requires that you click through certain segments. Then make sure your computer is connected to the Internet so the program can take you through the automatic registration and activation which allows you to receive online help and support in case something goes wrong.
3. Check your sound card by going to your computer's Device Manager. Go to the manufacturer's website or contact the manufacturer to get an updated driver for the sound card so you install and run Adobe Audition with the latest sound card software.
4. Modify your computer so that the temporary folders for Adobe Audition 2 are set to high performance drives by creating a folder entitled "Primary Temp Directory" at the root of your chosen drive. Then go to Edit > Preferences in the program and select "Systems." Under the Systems tab select "Temporary Folders" and designate the folder you created (Primary Temp Directory) as the temporary folder.
