Tired of a slow computer that takes way to long to start 'n load? Read these basic steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Click 'Start', 'Programs', then go to the folder called 'Startup', and delete ALL of the files in that folder.
Step2
Close ALL running programs.
Step3
Click 'Start', 'Run', type %temp%, click OK, and delete ALL files in that folder. If it says "There are 2 hidden folders" or "You cannot delete this file", then ignore it. Just make sure you delete as many files as possible from that folder.
Step4
Now, this is a VERY important step. Go to your desktop, press the right mouse button, click properties, then click themes
and change it to "Windows Classical". Then click "Desktop", and choose "(None)". Press "OK". I know your not going to like it, but it will make your computer so much faster! You might not notice that at first.
Step5
Click 'Start', 'Control Panel', 'Security Center', and turn off/disable EVERYTHING in there. You don't need any of it. Just trust me.
Step6
Restart you're computer and see how it goes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Close your anti-virus program. If you're saying "I don't want to catch a virus", then don't worry. I've never used an anti-virus program in my life, and I never had any viruses on my computer.
  • All that anti-virus programs and the firewall programs slow your computer down. TURN THEM OFF!!!
  • Do NOT put any images for your background. It slows your computer down!

on 7/21/2008 hey thanks, I didn't turn-off my firewall and zone alarm, but I found out that I also had 3 other programs that did the same thing, so I turned those off. I don't mind not having a background if my computer works faster. And I think it is already working faster, I just hope I don't get any viruses. Thanks!!!!!

on 5/11/2008 I’m not sure if I can follow your tips. Deleting startup files? I can handle that. You can just open them when you need them. Deleting temporary files? It does make sense. But you said there’ll be some error messages saying “there are 2 hidden folders” and “you cannot delete this file”? A bit doubtful. Having no image for the background is OK. But TURNING OFF ANTIVIRUS AND FIREWALL? Wow……I’m sure you are not just a novice. Turning off these demands more knowledge and computer skills. Feel free to share what are they? Anyway, thanks.
