How to Create Flattering Updos for Young Girls

Young girls love to get dolled up just as much as their older counterparts. A flattering updo for a young girl should be simple, functional and fun. Here are a few ways to create that perfect, flattering updo for a special young girl.

Things You'll Need

• Comb and brush
• Bobby pins
• Hair rubber bands
• Hairspray
• Hair decorations (optional)

Instructions

1. Twist up some fun in a lower hung bun. Take the hair in a low ponytail and twist it around in a circle until there is no more hair to twist. Pin it in place at the nape of the neck.

2. Pony it on up in a high pony tail worn at the crown of the head. Young girls will love the simplicity and high functionality of this effortless updo. Add some pretty barrettes or decorative hair rubber bands for extra pizazz.

3. Braid in some elegance by creating a high ponytail like in Step 2, but braid it once and secure it with a rubber band. This is a functional updo that will keep the hair from tangling during the day, since it is secure in a braid.

4. Create a messy bun updo. This is in fashion, and young girls will love the elegant but youthful look. Put the hair in a high ponytail and do not pull the tail all the way through the rubber band. Pin the remaining looped hair against the crown with bobby pins until you achieve the desired look.

5. Doll up her do with pigtails. For young girls ages 7 and under, this is always an adorable look. Comb hair into 2 sections and secure into hair rubber bands--one on each side of the head, above the ear.
