Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Start Microsoft Word, choose the "File" menu, and click on "Open" to bring up the "Open" dialog box.
Step2
Click on the "Files of type" drop-down list at the bottom of the "Open" dialog box and select "Rich Text Format (*.rtf)" from the drop-down list. You may need to scroll down to be able to see this option. This will instruct the dialog box to only display RTF files.
Step3
Use the "Look in" drop-down list to browse to the drive or file where the RTF file is saved. Click the file to select it, and click the "Open" button to open the file into Microsoft Word.
Step4
Choose the "File" menu, and click "Save As."
Step5
Confirm that "Word Document (*.doc)" is selected as the "File of type." If it is not, then select it from the drop-down list. This instructs Word to save your .rtf file as a .doc file.
Step6
Use the "Look in" drop-down list in the "Save As" dialog box to browse to where you want to save the file. You may also want to rename the file in the "File name" text box.
Step7
Click the "Save" button to close the "Save As" dialog box, and save your RTF file as a MS Word document.
