People enjoy receiving handmade Christmas cards, and it can be more enjoyable to create Christmas cards with friends and family members. You can create pop-up Christmas tree greeting cards and even enlist the help of children to decorate.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 x 8 index cards
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Paint
  • Glitter
  • Stickers
  1. Step 1

Fold an unlined, white, 5 x 8-inch index card in half. Hold the shorter sides and bring them together. Run your finger along the folded edge to ensure it is smooth.

  2. Step 2

Cut one inch into the fold you just created.

  3. Step 3

Fold the card over, above the cut, so that it forms a triangle. Turn the card over and fold in the opposite direction. This makes the Christmas tree pop-up.

  4. Step 4

Open the card and work the triangle back and forth, until you get it to pop up every time.

  5. Step 5

Take a 5 x 8-inch piece of white paper and glue it to the back of the card. This becomes your card liner. Decorate it with words, glitter, paint, stickers or whatever strikes your fancy.

  6. Step 6

Make the pop-up piece point towards you. Notice the Christmas tree pops out as you open it. Decorate the tree separately.

  7. Step 7

Look in office supply and craft stores for index cards in different colors, to create simple variations on the same design.

Tips & Warnings
  • Turn the card upside down and glue on some small dried flowers. You have just turned your Christmas tree pop-up design into a flower vase card design for Mother's Day.
