Things You'll Need:
- The will to believe this could be fun.
- Supportive family and/or friends.
- A good sence of humor and a sence of adventure.
-
Step 1
Have a party. Call it a "get me a job" party. It really doesn't need to be that formal, just a get together with friends. Whatever you are comfortable with.
Start a list of all your good and marketable qualities. Use this information to create a resume. Put together a cover letter too, and tailor them to each job you apply for.
Have several local papers lying around and invite the others to see what they think you would be good doing. Ask your friends to look on the internet for you and email you job possibilities. It could be a game, a contest. Suggestion: The one who picks the job you get, wins a lunch on you when you get your first paycheck. -
Step 2
Incorporate fun into even rejections.
First, the attitude: Refuse to accept a 'nobody loves me' or the 'I have nothing to offer' mind-set. You know that's not true. You are awesome. You just need to find the perfect Job for you.
Second, the decision: Decide that the rejection puts you one step closer to success. Cross it off your list and look forward.
Third, the fun: Which ever bozo friend or family member who picked that job gets a strike-one email or call. Use this time to laugh and joke around in fun. Let your support group in on the adventure. -
Step 3
Don't forget to be good to yourself. I'm not suggesting you spend money you really can't afford or even spend money at all. But do things you enjoy. If you are in a baseball league. Go play ball. If you like a good bubble bath after a long day, light some tea light candles, put on a favorite CD and sink into the tub. Whatever it is you can do to keep your spirits up, don't neglect enjoying these simple pleasures.

on 2/25/2008 Thanks for the encouragement Amy. That was my first post. I was afraid I went a little over the top, lol. Just trying to lighten up a pretty heave subject.
