How to Install a DSL Filter on a Phone
Digital Subscriber Lines or DSL allow high-speed data transfers across standard phone lines using two previously unused copper wires in the line. Electrons carried by the data wires create a magnetic field that can cause static and distortion on the telephone line. DSL filters filter out that static so you get a clear transmission on your telephone. Here are a few tips to help you install your DSL filters.

Tips & Warnings
When checking your phone line's dial tone, remember, you want a strong clear tone free of distortion.
If you need more DSL filters than were provided with your DSL modem from your Internet Service Provider (ISP), try calling the customer support number. Oftentimes ISPs will be happy to provide their customers with a few more DSL filters. This can save you a few dollars on electronics.
