You don't need to panic if you ever find yourself in the middle of a flood or fall out of a boat. Read on for a way to turn your clothes into a flotation device.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pair of pants with belt
  • Long sleeve shirt
  • Jacket

    How To Survive Drowning

  1. Step 1

    Take your pants and tie the bottom of the legs into tight knots. Fill the pants with air. Tie the belt around the top.

  2. Step 2

    Take your shirt and tie the ends of the arms into knots. Then, tie the bottom of the shirt. Allow the shirt to fill with air. Tie the neck portion tight. It should be like a small floating air pillow.

  3. Step 3

    Put the shirt and pants under your arm pits and attempt to balance across the water and float.

  4. Step 4

    Wait for someone to rescue you or float to shore if it is close--and if there is no swift currents or under tow currents.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always stay calm.
  • Just laying flat on your back should help you float in water.
  • This advice is for emergencies.
