How to Plan an Internet Scavenger Hunt

Internet scavenger hunts are a fun way to teach your students about the various resource tools that the Internet has to offer. You can make it as simple or as complex as you like and they can be just as fun to create as they are to complete. Here's how to incorporate this fun game into your lesson plans.

Instructions

1. Set parameters for your scavenger hunt. You need to decide whether you want to stick to a certain group of websites or just a particular topic of interest. Keep in mind the time limit your students will have for completing the scavenger hunt.

2. Decide where you want the hunt to go. Browse the Internet looking for a handful of sites that relate to your topic. On each of those sites, come up with a few questions based on the information you find.

3. Type up each question that you want your students to search for and number them. Then on the bottom of the page, list the sites that they need to search through to find the answers. Make sure to mix up the order of the questions and sites to make the search harder.

4. Let them loose. Print out multiple copies of your scavenger hunt and let the students loose on the Internet to find the answers. Help them when they need it, but don't give away the answers.
