How to Transfer a Domain Name from 1&1 to eNom
"Transferring" a domain simply means moving your domain from one registrar to another. It's an easy process, but requires several steps in order to ensure that it's you, not some mystery hijacker, requesting the change. This article takes you step-by-step through the process of moving a domain name to eNom from 1&1.
Things You'll Need
- A domain registered at 1&1
- Your login and password for your 1&1 account
- Login and password information for your account at eNom, eNomCentral, or BulkRegister
Instructions
-
-
1
Verify that the domain name is eligible for transfer -- that is, that the name has been registered for at least 60 days, is not expired, and is not in Registrar Lock status.
-
2
Log on to the 1&1 control panel at https://admin.1and1.com.
-
-
3
In the "Basic Settings" section, click "Domains".
-
4
In the "Contact" menu, click "Edit Registrant Contact" or "Edit Administrative Contact".
-
5
If the Registrant or Administrative contact information is incorrect (especially the email addresses), update them by clicking the "user data" or "alternative" item from the "Data source" menu. You must have the correct email address on record for Registrant, Admin, or both.
-
6
Click "Next", and then click "Submit".
-
7
To obtain the authorization code for the domain, go back to the 1&1 control panel.
-
8
In the "Basic Settings" section, click "Domains".
-
9
Select the check box next to the domain you want to transfer, and click "Info".
-
10
Read the authorization code from the interface.
-
11
To unlock the domain, in the "Transfers" menu, click "Lock/Unlock".
-
12
Select "Unlock" and click "OK".
-
13
Now you're ready to create the transfer request at eNom.
-
14
Log on to your account at eNom, eNomCentral, or BulkRegister.
-
15
In the "DOMAINS" menu, click "transfer a domain name".
-
16
Select "Auto verification" and click "next".
-
17
Type in the domain name you want to transfer, a comma, a space, and then the authorization code. If you have more domains, hit "Enter" and type in the information for the next domain on a new line. Repeat for each domain you're transferring, one per line.
-
18
Set the Registrar Lock, Auto-Renew, Whois, and Password options as you wish.
-
19
Click "next".
-
20
Click "submit".
-
21
When you (or the Whois contacts listed at 1&1) receive the email from eNom asking for approval of the transfer, do so by following the instructions in the email.
