Things You'll Need:

  • Planner
  • Calendar
  1. Step 1

When you receive a deadline make sure that it is a reasonable one. If you find that the deadline is impossible, let this be known right away. Once you have accepted the deadline, there is usually no going back. So address the situation first thing if you feel that the deadline set is unreasonable.

  2. Step 2

Next, set up a timeline for your work. When you have a deadline scheduled you should take the time to assess the situation. How long will each portion of this project take you approximately. Get an estimate and go with it. Use your timeline as if it were your boss. Do not procrastinate or you will regret it. Have something finished at the end of each scheduled period.

  3. Step 3

Keep yourself and your things organized. It is much easier to continue with a project if you know where everything is. Set up a system that works for you. At the end of each work period put everything back where you found it. This way you will be able to pick up where you started last. You will be more efficient if you stay organized.

  4. Step 4

Lastly, if you schedule your time wisely you will be able to complete the project in full. You should not wait until the last minute and then try to throw everything together. In the end you will probably forget something or worse yet, misrepresent yourself or your quality of work. If you use time management techniques your project will suggest that you are a dedicated and organized worker.
