Satellite radios have given us the ability to listen to music and talk radio without commercials. Sirius Satellite Radio is one of the two top providers of this type of service. If you do own a Sirius radio, you may run into problems from time to time. There are some things that you can do to troubleshoot the radio.

From Quick Guide: Satellite Radio
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Turn the radio on and off. Certain problems may be eliminated by simply turning the radio off and then waiting a minute to turn it on again. If you have any problems with the receiver, this is the first tactic to try.

  2. Step 2

Check the fuse. A blown fuse can cause the Sirius radio to not turn on or to lose power suddenly. If the fuse is blown, then it is going to have to be replaced. Depending on the model, you may need to take the receiver apart to check the fuse.

  3. Step 3

Look at the connections going into the receiver. A loose connection can cause you to receive several different error messages on the radio. You may see "Antenna Not Detected" or "Searching for Signal."

  4. Step 4

Try another FM frequency. If you are getting a lot of static over the radio, then you are probably using a frequency that already has a station on it. Try several different FM frequencies until the static fades away.

  5. Step 5

Move the antenna to a different location. If the antenna is obstructed in anyway, you are going to have a poor signal. Put the antenna in a place that has a clear view of the sky.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are still having problems with your Sirius radio, contact the manufacturer of the radio or the person who installed your radio.
  • If the problems that you are experiencing are due to a faulty power cable or antenna, you need to get these items replaced.
