Establish an overall budget for planning your wedding. Determine a specific amount that you are willing to spend for the flowers. Most of your floral budget will go toward your bridal bouquet and flowers for your bridal party. You can cut some corners by arranging the reception flowers yourself.

Set up the lilac arrangements. The full blossoms on a lilac branch are perfect for a vased bouquet. Use a floral distributor to get fresh lilacs. These must be delivered the morning of your wedding to the location of your event. Have the stems recut and the flowers placed in vases filled with water. Shop around for the best prices for lilacs. Consider using an online florist or purveyor for your order. Buy lilacs with great care for your wedding day, as they are only in season for a short time of year. Mingle white, blue and lavender lilacs for your flower selection. When you buy from an online wholesaler, your lilacs will come boxed with the stems encased in water tubes or another similar method. Wholesalers typically sell 10 or 20 bunches of lilacs per box, so mix up the colors.

Prevent your lilacs from wilting. This spring flower is very sensitive to dehydration and needs to intake water frequently. Even when placed in vases or pedestals of water, lilacs will need another re-wetting after 24 hours, sometimes sooner if placed in the outdoor heat. Recruit a wedding hall attendant to water your fresh lilacs.
