The oil of oregano has been used for centuries. Hippocrates used oregano in ancient Greece to cure stomach pain and respiratory diseases and Paracelsus used oregano in the 15th century to "treat diarrhea, psoriasis, vomiting, jaundice, and fungal diseases." Today, the herb continues to be used in much the same manner and is also great way to cure dandruff.

Search for a source of oil of oregano. Check your local health food store.

Look online for oil of oregano. Retailers like Oil of Oregano (.com, not .org) is a source of wild oregano that is grown far from the harmful effects of air pollution.

Check the ingredients carefully before buying the oil of oregano. Check the label for chemicals or preservatives, also look for the amount of water in the bottle. If the oil of oregano is too diluted, its helpful benefits are diluted as well.

Add some drops--up to five--of oil of oregano to your shampoo. Let the lather sit for a few minutes in your hair before rinsing it away, then repeat the process. Using oil of oregano in your regular shampoo is a gentle, chemical-free way to cure dandruff.

Be careful to keep the shampoo containing the oil of oregano from your eyes as the oil can burn them. Be careful also to not put the oil of oregano directly on your skin. Rinse well with water.
