Step 1
Find a piercer that you're comfortable with and who has experience with frenum piercings. Because the frenum piercing is relatively common and straightforward, any reputable piercing studio should be able to do your piercing.
-
Step 2
Wear relatively loose and comfortable clothing to your piercing appointment to minimize the discomfort of your new piercing.
-
Step 3
Work with the piercer to choose the right jewelry for your frenum piercing. You can use a straight, curved or circular barbell, and you may be able to choose the gauge and the bead material.
-
Step 4
Allow the piercer to clean your genital area to protect the new piercing against infection.
-
Step 5
Discuss the placement of the jewelry with the piercer. After he marks where the piercing goes, check the placement carefully. If you're not absolutely satisfied with it, have him remark it.
-
Step 6
Relax as the piercer clamps your skin for the frenum piercing. As he prepares to pierce you, take a deep breath and then let it out slowly as the needle goes through. The piercer quickly inserts the jewelry and then allows you to examine your new frenum piercing.
-
Step 7
Protect your new piercing as it heals. The entire healing process takes 4 to 6 months, during which time you should take saltwater soaks and keep the area clean to ensure proper healing. Abstain from sex for the first week or two, and abstain from oral contact for at least 2 weeks.

on 1/17/2008 a) Always start with a straight barbell until it's healed. Then go to a curved, circular or CBR if you want.
b) Reputable piercers never clamp your skin...they pierce free-hand which gives a much higher rate of success.
c) Healing time is 4-6 weeks for most people as long as you follow proper healing procedures. Saltwater soaks for frenums are rarely necessary...
d) There is no need to mark during erection. Any reputable piercer will mark while flaccid...insert a straight oversized barbell for healing...then replace the longer straight barbell (after healing) with a shorter/smaller piece of jewelry of choice (straight barbell, curved barbell etc.)
e) To have comfort during sex...the obvious choice for a frenum piercing is a straight barbell.
