How to Set Up The Perfect Bath At The End Of A Long Day

The only reason I set the difficulty at Moderately Challenging is because it's often a stretch for anyone to be able to let go, use their imaginations, and feel the vibes they send into things that they do. A bath has always been my favorite way to end a rough day. It just soaks out all of the irritation, drama, and stress and leaves me feeling beautifully emptied and ready to sleep. "Better than sex?" you ask... yeah, probably. It's certainly safer and a lot less complicated. What makes this bath even better is that you make the stir up the 'bath crystals' yourself. You get to 'charge' the mixture with your own relaxing and warm vibes. It is key that you be able to visualize that this will be the greatest bath ever. The great vibes you put into the set up won't let you down. I added my favorite bubble bath to the mix; feel free to put your own bubble bath or omit them all together.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • A CD player already loaded with a CD of soothing sounds or your favorite soft music.
  • Lavender and Peppermint scented candles (Lavender for relaxation, Peppermint to clear the mind)
  • Sesame Street Sleepy Time Lavender Bubble Bath (yeah, so what? It's for kids...it'll do wonders for you too!)
  • 2 cups of Epsom Salt, already in a glass or metallic bowl
  • Lavender Oil (must be an essential oil and NOT synthetic)
  • A Wooden Spoon

Step1
Close yourself in the bathroom. Make sure you have everything in there with you, and literally shut the world out, and lock yourself in. I know that this is hard for women with kids, but if you have someone you trust watching them, it should be easier to let go, if only for a bit.
Step2
Strip down naked. Come on, no one's around! Take off all of your clothes, and imagine that you're stripping away all of the weight and stress of the day. Put the clothes in the hamper, or throw them out of the bathroom if you have to, just do something with them that will be symbolic of you letting go of everything. Freed from your 'shackles', you can focus on your bath.
Step3
Position and light your candles. You should have two peppermint and two lavender candles. The musky smell of lavender and the sweetness of the peppermint will compliment each other nicely. Postion them in four points if you can, surround the tub.
Step4
Put on the music and shut off the light. Once that heavenly music is playing and the lights are out, you'll be in another world and feeling better already. I personally use Merlin's Magic meditation CDs, or some other kind of "chant like" music. Feel free to use whatever you like, as long as it is soft and promotes your mind and body to loosen up and relax.
Step5
Draw your bath and add the Bath Crystals. Make the bath water as hot as you like it. Sitting at the edge of the tub, while the hot water is running and wrapping it steamy spirals around your subconsciousness, put 4-6 drops of the lavender oil in to the bowl of Epsom Salt. Stir it gently but coat the Epsom Salt well, imagining that you are creating your own special 'bath crystals' that are going to wipe away the stress of the day and make you feel better. All the love and yummy vibes you put into them as you stir are going to heal you. Pour them in, scattering them around. You'll be able to see them forming a layer on the bottom of the tub.
Step6
Add the bubbles, and get in. I chose the Sesame Street bubbles because I love how relaxing the bubbles are! I know they're designed for babies and children, but the bubbles were so foamy and gentle...well, why aren't adults allowed these things? Once the tub is full enough to cover you once you've sat down, get in. Take a deep breath as you put your feet in one by one, and exhale slowly as you sit down. Enjoy your bath!

Tips & Warnings

  • Believe. It's a good tip to keep in mind while you're sitting naked on the edge of the tub, possibly feeling ridiculous for mixing a bowl of lavender and salt. It's important to visualize the relaxing, loving vibes your putting into this. You're doing something that's going to make yourself feel deliciously good. Energy is all around us, and you can totally use it to your advantage. It really is like magic!
  • Using children's products are not a bad thing. Children's bath products are made especially for skin that needs to be treated gently. We deserve this pampering every now and again, don't we? Personally, I'd rather use a gentle foamy bubble bath than some harsh, perfumy bath gel that comes in a champagne bottle and is labeled 'For Adults Only'. Ick.
  • You WILL be so relaxed, you may get sleepy! Be careful everyone, don't fall asleep in the tub. Enjoy your bath, and let the wonderfully relaxing energy in the room envelope you and take you away from all of the stress of your day. And sleep well tonight!

on 3/15/2008 I totally agree that it is important to take some me time. For days when you only have time for a shower, try soap that has lavender essential oil. Now you have no excuse not to pamper yourself even if your time is limited. www.handmadecatalog.com/Fanuppa-Soaps-LLC-mid-200.html
