Hepatitis C is a communicable liver disease that slowly damages the liver, sometimes resulting in cirrhosis and liver cancer. There are conventional drugs that can treat the disease, but the success rate is low. Many sufferers of hepatitis C seek alternative therapies.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use 200 mg of concentrated milk thistle with 140 mg of silymarin daily. Studies show that using these herbs in conjunction slowed the disease without any side effects.

  2. Step 2

Drink licorice root tea periodically. Although this herb is effective in many people, it can cause side effects such as headache, water retention and high blood pressure. The recommended dosage is two cups a week.

  3. Step 3

Use glycyrrhizin to sweeten foods. This is a licorice root derivative. Do not use more than 200 mg a day.

  4. Step 4

Use ginger root and St. John's wort to combat nausea and depression. Patients often use these herbs to counteract effects of painful medical treatments.

  5. Step 5

Drink green tea for the cathechins that can stabilize cell membranes.

  6. Step 6

Find some authentic ginseng in your local vitamin store. Formally known as panax puinquefolius, you can take it daily in the form of a tea.

Tips & Warnings
  • Seek the advice of an alternative doctor or herbalist to coordinate the herbs. It's important that someone monitor the effect any herbs have on vital signs and side effects to maintain proper dosage and use.
