Step 1
Remove the jokers from a standard deck of playing cards and shuffle. Deal 13 cards face up onto the table.
-
Step 2
Deal the remaining cards on top of the 13 cards so that all the cards are face up on the table in 13 rows of four. The cards should be placed so that the value and suit of the underneath cards are visible.
-
Step 3
Locate the kings and move them to the bottom of their respective piles.
-
Step 4
Shift cards around on these thirteen piles by placing cards in descending order, regardless of suit. The object of the game is to create four foundation piles beginning with aces and build up on those piles by suit. Holes in the tableau piles may not be filled by additional cards and only one card may be moved at a time.
-
Step 5
Continue moving the cards and building on foundations until you get all 52 cards on the foundations or until moves are no longer possible.

on 6/10/2008 Moving all the kings to the bottom of their respective piles may make the game too easy for some. Some versions of Baker's Dozen have the player move the kings only below any card of the same suit in their respective column. When this is done, interactions between cards left beneath the kings can make the game unwinnable. The version of Baker's Dozen at solitaireinnovations.com will move the kings below any cards that would otherwise make the game unwinnable.
