How to Provide Christmas for a Needy Family

Everyone gets down on their luck sometimes, but it's very hard when it's Christmas and you have a family. Small children especially don't understand when Santa doesn't pay them a visit. You can now play Santa by providing Christmas to a needy family by following the steps below. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Listen in church. Although they may not publicize any specific family in need to the general public, they will ask for donations in the form of food and gifts. This will then be distributed to needy families.

    • 2

Contribute at work. Many work places will ask for donations at holiday time, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. The difference in contributing here and at your church is the work place will give to a local charity, whereas the church will provide Christmas for a needy family in your area.

    • 3

Talk to your neighbors. You may find there is a needy family right in your neighborhood. If this is so, you can then talk to others in your neighborhood and either get together with them to provide a meal or toys for the children of the needy family. Alternatively, you can take the venture on yourself.

    • 4

Arrange to deliver the items without the knowledge of the needy family. If you are going to play Santa, make it realistic. Wait until the family is out or when you know nobody is outside. Deliver the package, ring the bell or knock, and duck out of sight. This will make it seem more likely that Santa has delivered the goods rather than a neighbor.

    • 5

Prepare to do your part. Christmas is all about giving and what better way to give then to help someone down on their luck. Needy families come in all sizes and shapes and you never know when you may find yourself in that position.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always show good will, as you never know when it may be you in need.

  • Playing Santa can only make you feel good and a good deed will never go unrewarded.
