How to Get Wii Points

By using the Wii Virtual Console, gamers can experience the best games of the past versions of Nintendo consoles without all of the hardware. Great old games are presented in their original (or nearly original) forms. The entire process works on Wii points, the Wii Shop Channel's version of money. There are two main ways to get Wii points and both are quick and easy.

Things You'll Need:

• Nintendo Wii
• Broadband Internet connection
• Credit card or Wii Points card

1. Buy a Wii Points card at any major electronics or department store. These cards cost around $20 and provide 2000 Wii Points.

2. Purchase your points directly from the Wii Shop Channel.

3. Click the button on the main page of the channel entitled "Add Wii Points." This will take you to a screen where you may redeem a Wii Card (as purchased in Step One) or where you can buy points with a credit card.

4. Select "Buy Wii Points with a Credit Card." This will take you to the screen where you may select the amount of Wii Points you would like to purchase (1,000, 2,000, 3,000 or 5,000). Only those amounts are available, so if you want more than that you must make them as separate purchases.

5. Choose the number of points you want. The following screen will ask for your credit card information. After entering the required information Wii points will be added to your account.

Tips & Warnings

• Regardless of whether you buy Wii Points in a store or directly through the console you will be charged sales tax. The often makes buying Wii Points cards in big department stores cheaper by a few cents.
• Never buy a Wii Points card that has a base price above $20 as that makes the points more expensive than buying directly from Nintendo.
