How to Put on a Swim Cap
Swimmers wear swim caps for several reasons. Swim caps keep hair out of your face, protect your hair from chlorine and prevent goggle straps from damaging your hair. In order for your swim cap to do its job, you must learn how to properly put on your swim cap.

1
Wrap long hair in a bun or secure with a fabric ponytail holder. It is difficult to rearrange your hair once the swim cap is on, so position your hair carefully so that your goggle strap will comfortably fit around your head.
-
2
Hold your swim cap open with both hands, keeping both thumbs on the inside of the cap.

3
Look down at the floor and place the front end of the cap on your forehead. The crease of the cap should start at your forehead and end at the nape of your neck.
-
4
Pull the cap back until the back of the cap is down below your hairline.
-
5
Tuck ears and any loose strands of hair into the cap.

Tips & Warnings
Some swimmers find it much easier to put on latex or silicone swim caps when their hair is already wet. If you choose to do this, wet your hair and put a small amount of water inside the cap. Follow the same steps for putting on a swim cap with dry hair.
Properly caring for your swim cap will make putting it on much easier. Rinse and dry your cap after each use and sprinkle baby powder inside to keep it from sticking together.
Swim caps can easily be punctured or torn, so trim fingernails and remove any barrettes or clips from your hair before putting on your swim cap.
